Welcome Back to the New School Year 2009-2010!
Hi Everyone!
It is hard to believe summer is over and a new school year has begun! I wanted to update you on what's new in the computer lab and network on the school campus as well as what I have planned for the new year.
The computer lab continues to grow and evolve, as does the wireless network in our school. Again, with the help of my husband, Eric Schramm, it is growing by leaps and bounds. We use hardware, called the Firebox, which filters all of our Internet traffic. This keeps our children safe from the negative things on the Internet. The Internet is a very useful tool and our children use it very often, but it imperative they are not exposed to the negative things that are out there. If you are interested, stop in the lab sometime and see the graphic of what the network layout is currently. I think you will be both surprised and impressed! We have also added some great tools to both monitor each child's desktop, as well as monitoring the network, right from my desk!!!
I will continue to teach and enforce Internet safety. All of the children will be learning Microsoft Office products (of course adjusted for their grade level!). They also will have a lot of fun (I hope).
This year, I will also teach 2 electives to the Junior High, forensics (public speaking) and typing.
I hope you all had a great summer. Please feel free to email me at
schramm@stjohnthebaptistschool.org if you have any questions, comments or a strong desire to help in the Computer Lab :) .
